
Delhi Police has arrested 10 people on charges of creating ruckus at the AFC gate of Jama Masjid Metro Station during Shab-e-Barat on 13 February. Police officials say that this action has been taken for the purpose of questioning these people on the basis of CCTV footage. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had lodged a complaint in the police station on 15 February 2025 regarding this incident.
According to Delhi Police, CCTV footage clearly shows that a crowd of youths are jumping over the metro scanning machine and exiting the station instead of passing it by punching it. Police had registered a case under Section 132 and 221 of BNS, Section 59 and DMRC Act after receiving a complaint from DMRC.
Actually, on the day of Shab-e-Barat, a crowd of youths created a ruckus at the Jama Masjid Metro station. Not only this, a large number of youths jumped over the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gate during the ruckus. This can be seen in the viral video on social media. Social media users also raised questions on the working style of Delhi Metro on social media.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari had said that such incidents will not be tolerated. All the rioters are being identified through CCTV cameras. Delhi Police will take strict action against the accused.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had said on Twitter regarding this incident, “A video is going viral on social media in which some passengers are jumping out of the AFC gate. In this regard, DMRC wants to inform that this incident took place at Jama Masjid Metro Station of Violet Line on the evening of 13 February 2025.
